Abstract

Indonesian Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) is one of the traditional medicinal plants which is contain tannins, saponins and flavonoids, that are anthelmintic. This study was conducted to prove the anthelmintic potential in moringa leaves extract against Heterakis gallinarum, compared with Levamisole hydrochloride (1%) as the positive control and NaCl solution as the negative control. This study was an experimental study with “post test only control groups design” method. The samples are consisted of 360 adult Heterakis gallinarum worms. They were divided into 6 tretment groups in petri dishes : with moringa leaves extract at the concentration of 4%, 5%, 6% and 8%, Levamisole hydrochloride solution (1%) and NaCl solution. Each petri dish was given 25 ml of solution, contained 10 worms and were incubated at 37°C. Those data then being analyzed using ANOVA factorial, followed by Duncan test, by SPSS 20 for Windows program with a significance level of p<0,05. The result of this research showed the most effective concentration of Moringa oleifera extract was P1 (Moringa oleifera extract 4%).
