Abstract

Toilet training is a learning to control willingness to defecate and urinate. The success of toilet training is influenced by parental style so researcher wants to know correlation between parental style and the ability of child’s toilet training. This study was designed cross sectional. Instrument used in this study was Development Pre Screening Questionnaire sheet and questionnaire. Technique of sample used was cluster sampling and there were 85 respondents who were suitable with inclusion and exclusion criteria as samples. Subject of study was parents who took care of their child by themselves and 24-35 months old children with normal development. Data was analysed using chi square test. Statistical analysis showed that there was significant correlation between authoritative style and the ability of 24-35 month old child’s toilet training. There was no significant correlation between authoritarian and permissive style with the ability of toilet training. Parents with authoritative style had child with better toilet training than child with authoritarian and permissive style. Result of study showed that parental style became factor which influenced the ability of toilet training in 24-35 month old child.
