Abstract

The complementary food of breast milk (MP-ASI) is a food or beverage which having a lot of nutritions for completing the nutritional needs of baby or infant aged 6-24 months. The main obstacle of the right breast milk applicaton was caused by the lack of good information regarding breast milk for the mother. Information about complementary food can be gotten from the counseling. Selection of appropriate feeding methods and media will influence mother's knowledge and attitude changing. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of feeding demonstration method in infants aged 6-12 months to increase knowledge and attitude of mother. This research is a pre experiment experimental with one group pretest posttest design. Samples were obtained from quota sampling which fulfilled the inclusion criteria of 32 mothers with infants aged 6-12 months. The research instrument used a questionnaire sheet that has been tested for its validity and reliability. Data analysis in this research is using Wilcoxon test. The result showed that knowledge and atitude increase by given the method of feeding demonstration in infants aged 6-12 months. Knowledge of respondent is almost categorized as good as 28 respondents (87.5%) and most respondent, 23 respondents (71,9%) have good attitude. The result of statistical test of the influence of the method of feeding demonstration in infants aged 6-12 months increased knowledge and attitude of mother obtained p value = 0,001 for knowledge aspect and p = 0,009 for attitude aspect. The results showed that there was a median value increasing in knowledge aspect from 643.00 to 857,00 and attitude aspect from 625,00 to 817.50. Wilcoxon test result showed that knowledge aspect got p value = 0,001 and p value = 0,009 for attitude aspect. The result showed that there is an influence of feeding demonstration methods in infants aged 6 to 12 months for improving attitude and knowledge of mother.
