Abstract
Communication in globalization era is needed in every human activity. Because English has an important role for communication tool. Besides, English is an important language for communication used as a lingua franca language. In this case English is used in many countries. Indonesia is one of the countries which uses English as the first foreign language for communication. Several sectors in Indonesia such as economic, trade, tourism, and education, etc use English as an international communication. One of the important sectors which uses English in Indonesia is education. In Indonesia, English has been taught since students were children. They have to learn it from kindergarten to university level. To develop their English mastery, many students learn it in non-formal school such as an English course. One of the famous English courses in Sidoarjo is LPIA Sidoarjo. LPIA is an English course which offers many levels for the students’ needs to improve their English proficiency. Students’ English proficiency may improve because of the teacher’s help and roles. There are two kinds of teacher’s roles in the classroom as a mediator and a facilitator. The writer had an opportunity to do the internship at LPIA (Lembaga Pendidikan Indonesia Amerika) Sidoarjo as an instructor. Therefore, she had to be a mediator to implant the materials to the students and as a facilitator meaning that, she had to facilitate student’s needs when they have difficulties, such as helping them understand the lesson about verbs in simple past, new vocabularies based on their module, and exercises for the national exam. In other words, the writer got fruitful experience when conducting the internship at LPIA, Sidoarjo.
