Abstract
Tourism is one of the dynamic economic activities in creating socialeconomic in the world. On the other hand, The tourism sector produces social benefits to the region like small and medium-sized enterprises’ development, creation of new jobs, improvement of infrastructure etc. Tourism is the precise sectors to help the advance of economy in the world (Al-Ababne, 2013). When tourism industry can manage and pack their tourism object into a major attraction, they would get many visitors. Therefore, the Government of Indonesian built Goverment Culture and Tourism Service to manage and develop all the culture and tourism sector in each province. The writer chose East Java Government Culture and Tourism Service to do Internship because that office works in managing and arranging the culture and tourism object. The writer did the internship at East Java Government Culture and Tourism Service for four weeks. The internship was started from 23 January to 23 February 2017, every Monday to Friday. The writer started working at 07.00 and finished at 15.30, and every Friday he started at 06.30 and finished at 14.30. The writer was positioned as marketing staff. Marketing Staffs had important roles in the tourism industry because they had to develop market analysis and promote the cultural events and tourism. The writer had a chance to do his internship at East Java Government Culture and Tourism Service. It was pleasure to experience of becoming Marketing staff. He got some problems during his internship but he could find the solutions. After doing internship program in East Java Culture and Tourism Service, the writer got some valuable lessons such as how to deal with his duties such as translating some tourism objects brochures, making formal letter of annual agenda, doing data entry. The writer got some experiences about the circumstances in office during work such as time management, work efficiency, the writer had to do some works and finish his duties on time. There were also some interesting experiences in Tourism Information Center. The writer could communicate with domestic visitors, foreigners, and all the officials in Tourism Information Center. The lessons and experiences that the writer got after doing his internship program in East Java Culture and Tourism Service would be useful for his future job. The writer hopes that East Java Government Culture and Tourism Service will be more hard work to develop tourism object in East Java. He suggests that there would be an activity in the office in every month and there are events at Tourist Information Center. The writer also wishes that they could explore more about the potential tourism object in East Java, so it will increase a number of tourists in East Java.
