Abstract

Globalization influences human life nowadays because it is a process of international assimilation occuring from the exchange of products, cultures, political systems, and economy developments. English is the influential language which has been learnt in many countries, such as, Indonesian public schools and private schools. Those schools have been applying Curriculum of 2013, but some private schools have more activities to increase their students’ English skills. One of the private schools is SD Islam Al-Azhar Kelapa Gading Surabaya. It is a unit of Perguruan Islam Al-Azhar Kelapa Gading Surabaya which has an “A” accreditation. It has a vision which is to have a Future conceptual education professionally organized by integrating God-fearing principle and Science Technology in the preparation of intellectual Muslim and has a mission which is to organize an Islamic education and quality, through noble moral education, the foundations of science mastery and the development of renewal spirit in preparating of intellectual Muslim mastered science and technology. The writer had an internship at SD Islam Al-Azhar Kelapa Gading Surabaya. She became an English teacher of 3A, 3B, and 3C classes who made lesson plans, taught English, made worksheets, and got evaluations from the advisor of her internship. Besides, she had to make a good rapport with the students of the school. She has been done her internship for 5 weeks which means she had to make observations in the first 3 weeks and teach English in the last 2 weeks. She had to teach them for 3 days per week: Monday, Thursday, and Friday. The material was about “Hobby” and the writer used LCD projector and textbook to teach the students. After getting the material, students were asked to do worksheets to measure their ability. Furthermore, the advisor did evaluation at the end of the lesson in order to improve the writer’s performance in teaching English. It was a priceless experience that she got during her internship. She expected that it would be useful for her future.
