Abstract
People do not only produce utterances containing grammatical structures and words, they perform actions via those utterances. Yule (1996) writes the definition of speech acts is action performed via utterances. Speech acts include real life interactions and the conditions of human everyday life. Related to the daily conversation in human life, we can found speech acts in the talk show. The purpose of this study is to find out mostly types of speech acts dominant and explain why the specific type of speech acts is mostly dominant in Mata Najwa talk show, Tri Rismaharini episode. The writer used Austin and Searle’s theory of Speech Acts in this study. She identified the speech acts force based on Austin’s theory: locutionary, illocutonary, and perlocutionary. She also identified the speech acts classification by Searle, commisisves, declaratives, directives, expressives, and representatives. The results show that the conversation between the host and the guest often produce locutionary and expressives. It is because the speaker always state what they felt in the literal meaning.
