Abstract

Having faith in God is a really important aspect of life as it is the guide of life. However, not many feels about the real existence of God as its character that is a transcendental being. This study is working on how actually the society sees God through a movie entitled Last Days in The Desert which was released in May 13, 2016 directed by Rodrigo García. By applying semiotics approach on theological movie, this study revealed the representation of Jesus through Yeshua who is being represented as theanthropic being. This study also shows that even though Yeshua is the Son of God, however since He is shackled in human’s body, it makes him not anymore transcendental which resulting Him become an anthropocentric who cannot pass the temptation. The finding of the analysis toward the role of what Son of a God enrolled in the movie show the American society and film are playing important role in guiding perception toward God. Hence, the American society and film are trying to impose the idea of God is no longer transcendental as it is being described as being who is sharing the same features with human being in His corporeal form, in addition of growing human capability.
