Abstract

Narrative text is a series of events told in written form. Since it is formed from a series of events, the narrative text must have a sequence structure of the story from the beginning to the end of the story. Most people are more interested in conducting an in-depth analysis of the issues contained in the narrative text. While in this study, the authors focus on the structure of narrative texts in the character formation of the protagonist. The narrative text used in this study is a novel entitled Cinder by Marissa Meyer which tells the story of the life of a mechanic girl named Cinder. The purpose of this analysis is to find out how the author reveals Cinder's hidden uniqueness in this novel. The author decided to focus on the main character of the novel because the topic of the novel itself focused on the life of the main character. After performing an analysis that refers to Genette's theory, the author discovers three hidden privileges possessed by the main character in the novel: the main actor is a Lunar or person who was born on the moon, she was sterile from letumosis virus, and she has a mysterious power to concede Queen Levana.
