Abstract

Study of acute toxicity ethyl acetate-70 fraction of tablet sambiloto herbs (Andrographis paniculata Ness) has been done for determine LD50 value and knowing acute toxicity of the test tablet at liver and kidney histopathology in wistar male mouse. Study of acute toxicity used twenty five mouse and divided into five groups. The control group was given CMC-Na 0.5%. and the other groups are treated group were given suspension of ethyl acetate-70 fraction of tablet bitter herbs. Dosage was given 5; 50; 300; and 2000 mg/ kgBB orally. The method of scoring used Knodell method for liver and Klopfleisch method for kidney. The histopathology score analyzed by Completely Randomized Design. The result of this study shows LD50 value is 2000 mg/kgBB and can be classified as toxicity level 4 (light toxicity). At liver, the test tablet cause degeneration at 2000 mg/kgBB. But the test tablet didn’t cause toxicity at kidney histopathology.
