Abstract

Porang (Amorphophallus oncophyllus and Amorphophallus konjac) containing glucomannan can be used as one of the alternative food as diet menu. However, it can be very itchy and it can lead the formation of kidney stone, because it contains calcium oxalate so it needs toxicity testing. This toxicity study was an experimental study post randomized post-control group design. The sample in this research is male white mice (Mus musculus), weight 20-30 gram, age 2-3 months. Samples were 6 mice per group of test dose. The data is the number of deaths used to calculate LD50 porang powder. Toxicity test results showed that porang powder dosage test containing standardized glucomannan with the highest dose of 5000 mg / kgBB in mice and observed for 48 hours did not indicate mortality of mice. Based on the results, it can be concluded that standardized porang powder (Amorphophallus oncophyllus and Amorphophallus konjac) containing glucomannan is non-toxic
