Abstract

This study aims to isolate non specific bacteria on reproductive tract of dairy cattle during artificial insemination in KSU Tunas Setia Baru, Tutur District, Pasuruan Regency. This study used a sample of servical mucus taken by cutting on plastic sheath tip during artificial insemination. Then the samples that had been collected in isolation using selective media and general media. Bacteria isolation was done by Gram staining method, catalase test, spore test, motility test, TSIA test, manitol and glucosa test. Result of research from 1 sample of control and 20 different isolate samples obtained non spesific bacteria which are positive Gram and negative Gram. From the morphological characteristics of bacteria about 4/20 (20%) samples of the isolates were positive Gram coccus bacteria namely genus Staphylococcus, 15/20 (75%) samples were gram positive bacil bacteria namely genus Corynebacterium and 8/20 (40%) samples were negative Gram cocobacil bacteria was genus Escherichia, which is a class of non specific bacteria targeted in this study. The fact of the field shows there were still non specific bacteria on reproductive tract. This is due to bad environmental hygiene, inseminator hygiene and lack of awareness of breeders for the health and hygiene of their livestock.
