Abstract

Background. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacillus Mycobacterium tuberculosis. From 1993 WHO has declared that TB as a global public health emergency. Indonesia is the second rank for case of tuberculosis in the world. Pulmonal tuberculosis can be diagnosed by finding Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the sputum or pulmonal tissue culture. But can’t be found at all of the tuberculosis patient’s, so must there any additional chest radiology examination. This research aims to know the correlation between the result of sputum’s acid-fast bacilli examination with a picture of chest radiograph in a new cases tuberculosis. Method. The study design was observational analytic with cross sectional retrospective method. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. From 89 samples were obtained 55 samples that met the inclusion criteria. Data were Analyzed using Spearman's Correlation Test by a computer software program IBM SPSS Statistics 20 for windows with significance level (α) 0,05. Results. The results of sputum smear examination most commonly found in BTA negative at 63.6%. The most radiological lesion found was far advanced lesion 52.7%. The results of sputum smear examination with r adiological lesions most commonly found in BTA negative with far advanced lesion (65.5%). Test results analysis by Spearman's Correlation Test, the p value is 0.823. Conclusion. Ho accepted and H1 refused, indicating no significant correlation between the result of sputum’s acid-fast bacilli examination with a picture of chest radiograph in a new cases of tuberculosis
