Abstract

In 2012, ± 60 million people in the world suffer from glaucoma and ± 8,4 million blind because of it. This numbers are expected to rise to 80 million and 11,2 million in 2020. Objective: To study the profile of patients with glaucoma. Method: This was a retrospective study by assessing patients’ medical record and analyzed descriptively. Result: Of 114 patients, 54,4% were male, 66,7% were between 45-65 years, and don’t have history of hypertension and diabetes mellitus (63,2%). Location of glaucoma occurred bilateral (54.4%) and as much as 59.6% accompanied by other eye diseases. This research showed that 31.6% of patients with bilateral glaukoma blindness, with a decrease in visual acuity of both eyes are in category 4, ie 36.8% and 32.5%. IOP increased unilateral in 50% of patients, with the majority of IOP in both eyes are between 10.5 to 20.5 mmHg, ie 53.5% and 55.2%. Multiple therapy is a kind of drug therapy that most commonly used (77.2%) and combination that is widely used is β-blockers - CAI (39.5%). Conclusion: Glaucoma patients dominated by male, between the age of 45-65 years, without any history of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, with bilateral glaucoma, accompanied by other eye disease, suffer from bilateral blindness, with a decrease in visual acuity of both eyes in category 4, IOP increased unilateral in the range of 10,5-20,5 mmHg in both eyes, multiple drug therapy, and combination of β-blockers – CAI.
