Abstract
Background and purpose – Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease, which affects the joint cartilage. As many as 80% have limited in movement and 25% of them can not even perform daily activities. Is one of the ten most disabling diseases in developed countries. Because of the nature chronic and progressive, socio-economic impact in many developed and developing countries. The aim of this study is to determine the profile of patients with osteoarthritis in Department of Orthopedic RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. Methods – This research is observational descriptive. We analyzed questioners of all stay in patient in Department of Traumatic and Orthopedic RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya during 1 September 2016 – 31 October 2016. 35 subjects with osteoarthritis were analyzed for study. The observed variable of patients’ profile include: sex, age, education history, type of osteoarthritis, Kellgren-Lawrence grading system, severity index of osteoarthritis knee. Result – Our observational study during 1 month has concluded several findings as following. 43% of the sample aged 60-69 years, 83% of the samples were female, 37% of the samples have a BMI of obesity I, 60% of the samples undergo bilateral osteoarthritis, and 77% sample of primary osteoarthritis. A total of 15 of the 53 samples of the knee has a grade III, and 15 of 53 samples of the knee also has a grade I, and as many as 21 of the 35 samples had gradations clinic "very severe". These results could be due to patients who have a low-grade gradation clinic and had received medical attention at the health facility level I or II. Conclusion – From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the age, gender, BMI, Kellgren-Lawrence grading system, severity index of Lequesne osteoarthritis patients in dr. Soetomo General Hospital has a conformity to the research that has been done in many places and the existing theories.
