Abstract

Maxillofacial fracture is a physical trauma which afflicts soft and hard tissues on facial region. It includes jaw injury, neck injury, and facial injury. Facial fractures epidemiology and etiology have many diversities on each geographic region. The most common etiology of maxillofacial fracture in Indonesia is road traffic accidents (RTA). This research is conducted to observe towards the maxillofacial fractures of patients in the Department of Head and Neck Surgical Division RSUD Dr Soetomo Surabaya in 2015 using medical records of the patients. From the total of 61 samples, the ratio between male and female patients is 43:18, maxillofacial fracture patients were mostly at age 20-29 years old, the most common type of maxillofacial fracture on patients is mandibular fracture (32.78%), and the most common concomitant trauma on patients is also fracture on another region except facial region (11.47%).
