Abstract

Background: Hypertension happens when the force of blood pumping through the arteries is too strong. Diabetes is one of risk facot of hypertension. The advent of hypertension in diabetic patients accelerate cardiovascular and cardiac abnormalities. Objective: study association between type II diabetes mellitus with hypeertension Methods: case control study using secondary data with medical record of Poli Interna RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. Result: The results showed that the prevalence of hypertension occurrence by age showed that the number of hypertension was from age group 51-60 (71.4%). For the prevalence of occurrence of diabetes by sex shows that men (40.9%) have more diabetes. For the prevalence of diabetes occurrence by age> 60 years (50%) more diabetics.. Association between diabetes and hypertension has significant value of p=0,083 (p>0,05) and OR = 1,96
