Abstract

The purpose of this study was to detect the presence of H5 subtype Avian Influenza viruses in bats in Indonesia with molecular confirmation test using the Conventional Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and Realtime PCR. The sample consisted of organ such as trachea, lungs, intestines, liver and kidneys bats after inoculation of TAB that were Specific Antibody Negative (SAN) then HA test, HI test antisera H5 subtypes and Conventional RTPCR and Real-time PCR. The results of this study are four positive samples test HA and HI test antisera H5 subtype, negative result for Conventional RT-PCR and Realtime PCR amplification used primary H5 subtype. Conclusions obtained there was no Avian Influenza virus H5 subtype in bats in Indonesia using the Reverse Transcriptase-Plymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and Realtime-PCR, but Avian Influenza A non H5 subtype viruses contains in bats with code samples GR1.17 from Garut which was proved by the Realtime PCR method using a primary Matrix gene as a molecular diagnosis.
