Abstract

Background : Extensive cervical lesion involving dentine tissue can cause dentin hipersensitivity with various intensity of pain. The most commonly used agent is fluoride containing agent that have been shown to be effective in relieving the pain. To restore the cervical lesion cavity, dentin bonding may be performed after hypersensitivity treatment procedures. How ever, the effect of desensitizing agent on the bond strength of adhesive restoration is controversial. Purpose: This study was to determine the effect of hypersensitivity treatment (5%NaF) on the microtensile bond strength of self etching adhesive with different solvent type (ethanol based and aceton based) to treated dentin. Methods: 28 samples of bovine were devided into two groups. Group I (n=14): No application of 5% NaF varnish and groupII (n=14):with application of 5% NaF varnish. Then each group were devided into two groups acording to solvent based of adhesives. Group Ia (n=7): ethanol based. Group Ib(n=7): aceton based. Group IIa (n=7): ethanol based. Group IIb (n=7): aceton based. After adhesive , dual cured composite were applied. Result: Group with no NaF5% treatment statistically significant higher microtensile bond strength than the NaF5% treatment group and the aceton based of adhesive showed higher microtensile bond strength than etanol based. The solvent based of adhesive didn’t influence the microtensile bond strength at group with NaF5% treatment. Conclusion: NaF5% varnish influence the microtensile bond strength of self etch adhesive to dentin.
