Abstract

Introduction: Breast cancer was one of a high prevalence cancer. Chemotherapy was treatment for breast cancer. Chemotherapy affected both physically and psychology, patient tend to boring while doing sustain chemotherapy regiment. Adherence of chemotherapy program related to therapy efficacy. Family support have an important role for chemotherapy successor. Method: This study aim to identify the relations between family support and chemotherapy program adherence in breast cancer. The Design of study was cross sectional study with 83 respondents. Independent variable was family support including instrumental, informational, emotional, and self-esteem. Dependent variable was chemotherapy program adherence for breast cancer. Data retrieve with questionnaire and analyzed by spearman rank rho with p ≤0,05.Result: The result of study shows 41 respondents (49,4%) who adherence in chemotherapy program have enough family support. Amount 2 respondents (2,4%) who not adherence have less family support. Statistical result shows significant correlation between family support and chemotherapy program adherence with p = 0,024 and r = 0,248 mean weak positive correlation.Discussion: This could be conclude that there was significant correlation between family support and chemotherapy program adherence, while good family support related to increasing of chemotherapy program adherence. This study suggest to optimize family support for chemotherapy adherence. For further research suggest to modify research in cohort and case control design study.
