Abstract

Puskesmas is a first level health services. Each puskesmas has a policy of giving the amount of drug given to the patient. The difference between the number of days treatment adminisration may affect the adherence and costs incurred by the patient. Hypertension is one of the leading causes of premature death in the world and is often referred as sillent killer. Thus, adherence in treatment is needed to prevent the occurrence of complications. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of number of days of drug administration on adherence and cost in hypertensive patients in north surabaya. This research was a cross sectional study using accidental sampling. Compliance was measured using an ARMS questionnaire and costs were measured using interview guidelines and direct observation. Based on the data analysis with spearman correlation test, a significant number of 0.000 (p < 0.005) was obtained. Thus, Ho was rejected and it can be concluded that there was an effect between the number of days drug administration to adherence. Meanwhile, the significant value of 0.209 (P > 0.05) was obtained from the analyzed cost. Thus, Ho was accepted and it can be concluded that there was no effect between the number of days drug administration to the cost incurred by the patient.
