Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the influence of sanitation and cage type to scabies cases on goat. The samples used in this study were 40 goats that showed skin crusted. The data used in this observational study was semiquantitative. There are three score to determind the influence of cage sanitations towards scabies case on goat those are cage sanitation condition, feeder sanitation and sun risk exposure. There are three cage types including colony cage, parents and kid cage, and individual cage. Microscopic examination was used to identification the skin scabies. Positive result was given when adult mites, eggs, nymph or larvae of Sarcoptes scabiei were detected. The results showed 32 (80%) out of 40 samples were positive scabies. Based on Chi-Square analysis, there is no correlation between the type of cage to the presence of scabies cases, whereas cage’s sanitation condition gave a significancy correlation to scabies cases.
