Abstract

Thalassemia is a blood disorder since birth where the amount of hemoglobin is reduced. Children with beta thalassemia major require regular blood transfusions to maintain their quality of life. Their disparity / differences in children with thalassemia with normal children is a precipitating factor in which the condition is the cause of the grief that extends for children. Children with thalassemia have a lower quality of life than normal children. Nurses can provide external management to provide pleasure and comfort of children with thalassemia so as to improve the quality of life through nursing theory approach Chronic sorrow in a way Therapeutic peer play. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of peer Therapeutic play against the quality of life for beta thalassemia major children of school age in Denpasar Sanglah Hospital. This type of research is experimental with pre-experimental design is the one group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study are all children of school age talasemi major beta (6-12 years) who underwent routine transfusions in Hospital Sanglah many as 14 people. Data collection quality of life of children with beta thalassemia major using the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) version 4.0 and analyzed using Paired T test. Statistical test results obtained p- value <0.0001 then H0 is rejected it means no therapeutic effect of peer play towards improving the quality of life of children of school age beta thalassemia major. The conclusions of this study is the provision of therapeutic nursing interventions can improve the quality of life of beta thallasemia major of school age children in Sanglah hospital Keywords :Therapeutic Peer Play, Quality of life, Beta Thalassemia Major
