Abstract

Spirituality, caring behavior, and therapeutic communication are the 3 components of health services that must be owned by nurses. In the professional practices at hospital, nursing students are expected to apply these 3 components in an ongoing basis. This study aimed to identify the correlation between spirituality and caring behavior and therapeutic communication in nursing students at hospital basis. Method: This study was designed in crosssectional approach with total sample of 133 respondents. The sampling technique used in this study was simple random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaire and analyzed using spearman rho test with level of significance at 0.05. Results: Statistical analysis showed a correlation between spirituality with caring behavior with p value of 0.000 and r value of 0,690. As for spirituality and therapeutic communication, the analysis showed p value of 0.000 and r value of 0,563, indicating an adequate correlation between the variables. Discussion: It can be concluded from the study that spirituality correlates adequately with caring behavior and therapeutic communication in positive direction. It can be expected to further research can analyze the factors that influence the level of spirituality in health services through caring behavior and therapeutic communication in nursing students.
