Abstract

Cervical cancer is one cancer that can be cured if detected early. Early detection of cervical cancer can be with AVI or Pap-smear. AVI has a specificity of up to 85% in detecting pre-cancerous lesions. The coverage of AVI in Surabaya City increases every year, but has not reached the target. The objective of this study is to analyze the effects of attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on the intention to conduct cervical cancer early detection of the women living in the working region of Tambakrejo Community Health Surabaya. The design of this study is based on Cross Sectional Design with quantitative approach. The population of this study were all married women living in the working region of Tambakrejo Community Health Center Surabaya with the number of samples was 93 respondents. Data processing and analysis was carried out using open office excel software and SPSS application. The result of logistic regression analysis on attitude variable showed p-value 0.018, indicating that attitude was a factor that affected women intention to carry out cervical cancer early detection through AVI method; subjective norms showed pvalue 0.000, indicated that subjective norm was a factor that affected women intention to carry out cervical cancer early detection through AVI method; Perceived Behavioral Control showed p-value 0.000, indicating that Perceived of Behavioral Control was a factor that affected women intention to carry out cervical cancer early detection through AVI method. Health cadre quality improvement carried out through training, introducing health programs, and forming peer groups consisting of health cadres and women with AVI examination experience may help the health practitioners to increase the number of AVI visits. The improvement of health promotion efforts made by trained health practitioners by using various media, such as leaflets, flip cards, and other props in every Integrated Service Post activity may also attract the community to conduct cervical cancer early detection.
