Abstract

Pharmaceutical care is a form of pharmacist’s responsibility for a definit purpose to improve quality of life (Hepler and Strand, 1990). Based on previous studies, quality of life among patients with tuberculosis are lowand smoking is one of the factor. Thus, to improve quality of life, the drug therapy problem (DTP) need to be identified and solved. Adherence (noncompliance) is a DTP which has happened commonly. The aim of this study was to determine the differences of adherence and quality of life between patients with tuberculosis who smoke and patients with tuberculosis who don’t smoke.. This study was a cross sectional study using accidental sampling. Adherence data was obtained by ARMS with modification questionnaire and quality of life data was obtained by CDC HRQOL 4. There was no indonesian version of CDC HRQOL – 4, thus forward backward translation, validitiy test and reliability test of CDC HRQOL – 4 were done, the validity test result shows that the 5 items of CDC HRQOL -4 are corellated significantly by using spearman correlation. The reliability test result demonstrated good internal consistency with α value of 0,828. In this study, mann whitney U test was used. there were no adherence differennces significantly between two groups (p 0,871 > 0,05) and there were no quality of life differences significantly between two groups (self rated health (p 0,134 > 0,05) , physical distress (p 0,859 > 0,05), mental distress (p 0,533 > 0,05), activity limitations (p 0,621 > 0,05), dan unhealthy days (p 0,838 > 0,05)).
