Abstract

The purpose of this research was to evaluate the effect of okra fruit (Abelmoschus esculentus) ethanolic extract administration on diameter of seminiferous tubules on mice (Mus musculus). Twenty male mice (Mus musculus) ages 12 weeks with average body weight 25-30g were used. These animals were divided into four groups (C, P1, P2 and P3). C (control) was treated with sterile aquadest without adding okra ethanol 96% extract, P1 was treated with okra ethanol 96% extract 200 mg/kg Bw/day, P2 was treated with okra ethanol 96% extract 400 mg/kg Bw/day and P3 was treated with okra ethanol 96% extract 800 mg/kg Bw/day. This research has been conducted for total 52 days. Observation diameter of seminiferous tubules testis preparation H.E stain was done by using optical microscope with 100x magnification which was then measured use the first calibrated Image-Raster 3. The data were compared using ANOVA and Duncan test by SPSS 23.0 for windows. The result showed that extract ethanol okra 400 mg/kg Bw/day and 800 mg/kg Bw/day orally could decrease the diameter of seminiferous tubules significantly (p<0,05).
