Abstract

Background: Compliance of antenatal care (ANC) visit was an obedience of pregnant mother to obey health workers advice about ANC visits as government’s standard. One among various factors for compliance of ANC visits was knowledge. Mother’s knowledge affected her behavior in attending ANC services. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge about high risk pregnancy and compliance of standard ANC visits among low risk pregnant mother of third trimester. The research, which had done by Sasamu (2016), showed that there was relationship between knowledge about high risk pregnancy and compliance of ANC visits. Method: This study used cross sectional methods and collected 46 respondents by using accidental sampling. Independent variable of this study was knowledge, meanwhile dependent variable was compliance of antenatal visits. Instruments of this study were questionnaire and sheet of data collector. Chi Square statistical test was used to analyse the collected data at significant level a = 0,05. Result: This study showed that 27 (58,7%) mothers had good level of knowledge and all of them obeyed in attending ANC visits; 17 (37%) mothers had moderate level of knowledge, 5 (10,9%) among them obeyed and 12 (26,1%) did not obey in attending ANC visits; 2 (4,3%) mothers had poor level of knowledge and all of them did not obey in attending ANC visits. Statistical analysis showed that p value = 0,000 (p value < a). Conclusion: there is relationship between the level of knowledge about high risk pregnancy and compliance of ANC visits. Keywords: Knowledge; high risk pregnancy; compliance of ANC visits; low risk pregnant mother.
