Abstract

Introduction: The insufficient height of the prosthetic area may be corrected through surgery in the soft tissues, namely the vestibular fornix deepening or vestibuloplasty. Many tehniques of vestibuloplasty have been developed with the same objective. Its presented an alternative method to keep the vestibular flap in a more apical region, mainly during the early post operative period, aiming to obtain less scar contraction and, thus, a better predictability for the final result. Purpose: To present the novel NNG-modified Kazanjian vestibuloplasty surgical technique which involve the use of acrylic plate and amnion membrane to increase the depth of oral vestibulum. Cases series: In 2014, we reported three cases which were treated with NNGmodified Kazanjian vestibuloplasty technique at Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Soetomo General and Teaching Hospital, Surabaya, Indonesia. Conclusion: NNG-modified Kazanjian vestibuloplasty surgery technique could be performed to achieve a broadened denture bearing area by manipulation towards soft tissues. The use of acrylic plate post vestibuloplasty aids in preserving buccal and sulcular vestibulum depth in the lingual part and also maintains the height of the ridge.
