Abstract

One of the most influential factor is parenting. Parenting is the best parent act to educate their children. There are three types of parenting style called authoritarian, democratic and permissive. This research was conducted to determine the correlation between parenting style and children’s independence of preschoolers. Methods: this study was an observational analytic study with cross sectional approach. A total sample is 66 people, which includes mothers and children aged 4-6 years in accordance with the inclusion criteria. This study was a total sampling. The independent Variable in this study was the pattern of foster parents, while the dependent variable was the independence of the children aged 4-6 years. To determine the level of significant, the data collected from the statistical test Chi-square (x2) at a significance level α = 0.05 and analysis of the relationship two variavles with correlation’s. Results : the results of research stated that there were most parents apply parenting democratic (61.9%). We found that mostly children aged 4-6 years (60.3%) were independent. Bivariate analysis p value = 0.024 (p ≤ 0.05) which means there was a correlation between parenting style with the children’s independence of preschoolers. Conclusion : the role of parents is important to grow their child’s indepence including implementing the best parenting style in order to achieve of indepence according the age of the children Keywords : Parenting, Children’s indepence, A Preschool Child
