Abstract

Background: Postpartum haemorrhage is one of the three mostly common causes of maternal mortality in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the risk factors and causing factors postpartum hemorrhage in RSUD Dr M Soewandhie Surabaya. Method: This was an observational analytical study with case control method on postpartum haemorrhage. Obtained 39 respondent with postpartum haemorrhage from January-September in 2017 at RSUD Dr M Soewandhie Surabaya with control 39 respondent without postpartum haemorrhage. Results: The study show risk factor (preeclampsia 44%, multiple pregnancy 3%, obesity 5%, postterm 15% and no risk 33%) and causal factor (uterine atony 21%, rest placenta 56%, laceration 23%, and Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation 0%) incidence of postpartum haemorrhage. The statistical tests found a not significant association preeclampsia p=0,24, multiple pregnancy p=1,00, obesity p=1,00 dan postterm p=1,08 with postpartum hemorrhage. Conclusions: The most causal factors of postpartum haemmorhage are rest placenta, laceration and uterine atony. However are not associated are preeclampsia, multiple pregnancy, obesity and postterm with postpartum haemorrhage. Keywords: postpartum haemorrhage, risk factor
