Abstract

Background: Measles and Rubella are diseases that are spread through the air. Because of the high incidence of measles and rubella, a decision was taken by substituting the measles vaccine with a combination of measles and rubella vaccine which was getting started with MR immunization. The success of MR immunization campaign programme was affected by mother’s compliance to involve their children. This study aimed to analyse factors related to mother’s compliance in following campaign programme of MR immunization. Method: This cross-sectional study collected 106 mothers by consecutive sampling and using questionnaire. Gading and Menur Public Health Service in Surabaya were chosen as study’s location. This study was done in April – May 2018. SPSS v22 was used to analyse with Chi Square / Fisher’s Exact Test. Independent variables included mother’s knowledge, attitude, motivation, behaviour, and family support. Dependent variable was mother’s compliance. Result: This study showed that 96% mothers had good level of compliance toward programme of MR immunization, 39,6% mothers had moderate level of knowledge, 97,2% mothers had positive attitude, 94,3% mothers had high motivation, 76,4% mothers had positive behaviour, and 88,7% mothers had family support. Statistical analysis showed that there was correlation between mother’s compliance in following programme of MR immunization with mother’s knowledge (p value=0,025), mother’s attitude (p value=0,040), family support (p value=0,035). On the contrary, there wasn’t correlation with mother’s motivation (p value=0,418) and mother’s behaviour (p value=0,966). Conclusion: There was correlation between mother’s knowledge, attitude, family support and mother’s compliance in following campaign programme of MR immunization.
