Abstract

Background: Every woman had a desire to have normal labour and delivery their baby perfectly, yet some rare cases were proving that labour had obstacles which could be done by Sectio Caesarea with all the considerations. Increased incidence of Sectio Caesarea had a line up with increased maternal and perinatal complications, so did the financing. This study aimed to know external and internal factors of pregnant mothers related to Sectio Caesarea in General Hospital Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes Kupang. Method: This case control study collected 400 pregnant mothers by systematic random sampling. 200 pregnant mothers were delivering baby with Sectio Caesarea and the other half had normal labour. Medical records were used to have information about the variables. SPSS was used to analyse with Chi Square. Result: This study showed that most of mothers (53%) had a moderate level of educational background, nearly all the mothers (90,8%) had health insurance, just little mothers (6,2%) had incomplete ANC record, nearly all the mothers (98,5%) had delivered a single baby, just little mothers had delivered their baby in post-term, most of mothers (75,8%) hadn’t delivered in risky age, just little mothers (4%) had delivered with risky height body (≤ 145 cm), nearly all the mothers (90,2%) had delivered without any obstacles, most of mothers (56,2%) were multigravid. This study also showed that external factors of pregnant mothers related to Sectio Caesarea were educational background and health insurance, yet antenatal visit record hadn’t relation. On the contrary, internal factors of pregnant mothers related to Sectio Caesarea were height body and obstacles in labour, yet gestation, the number of baby, mother’s age, and parity hadn’t relation. Conclusion: External and internal factors of pregnant mothers related to Sectio Caesarea in General Hospital Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes Kupang are educational background, health insurance, height body, and obstacles in labour. Keyword: Sectio Caesarea, external factors, internal factors
