Abstract

Background: Children marriage have a risk that cause maternal and neonatal mortality rates in Indonesia still high. Maturing marriage age is one of the BKKBN program that supporting family planning in adolescent. The age specification on the program is determined due to the psychological and physical health and readiness, and also the social economy. This research aims to study the relationship between parent’s interpersonal communication and knowledge of reproduction right with adolescent’s attitude of maturing marriage age. Method: This study was an observational analytical research with cross sectional approach, 116 respondents were included, determined by simple random sampling. The independent variable are parent’s interpersonal communication and knowledge of reproduction right, the dependent variable is attitude of maturing marriage age. Analysis test used Chi-Square and Fisher exact test at significance level α=0.05 Result: After Chi-square test in parent’s interpersonal communication obtained by value (p=0,033;cc=0,210). And fisher exact test in knowledge of reproduction right obtained by value (p=0,316). Conclusion: The role of parents in communication with their children can delivering their children to achieve positive attitude of maturing marriage age, while to determine an attitude, there were important thing except knowledge those are emotion, believe and thought.
