Abstract
AF is defined as an abnormal heart rhythm with rapid and irregular heart electrical activity. AF has a characteristic there is no P-wave on the ECG. This study discussed about amiodarone iv as rhythm control for management therapy of AF. Its complex pharmacokinetics and electrophysiological properties make researchers wanted to conduct a study of the profile of intravenous amiodarone in patients with atrial fibrillation. The aim of this study was to examine the profile of amiodarone therapy in atrial fibrillation patients including dose, frequency of administration and outcome. The research was conducted retrospectively by using the data of patient medical record in cardiovascular intervention room of Bhayangkara Hospital Surabaya from January 2017 until June 2018. The results of the study in 10 patients showed that the use of single intravenous amiodarone was 3 patients (30%), while the combination of two were 5 patients (50%), and the combination of three were 2 patients (20%). Amiodarone combination (150mg / 30 min) IV + Bisoprolol (1x5mg) PO were 5 patients (50%), amiodarone (150mg / 30 min) IV + Bisoprolol (1x5mg) + Digoxin (1x0.25mg) IV/PO were 2 patient (20%). Potensial drug interactions between amiodarone and warfarin 4 patients 36%), amiodarone with ranitidine 3 patients (27%), amiodarone with digoxin 2 patients (18%), amiodarone with tramadol 1 patient (9%), and amiodaron with codein 1 patient (9%), but these drp’s didn’t actually occur. Amiodarone may caused side effect such as hypotension and bradycardia. The use miodarone is appropriate despite having drug related problem.
