Abstract

Progression of congenital heart disease left to right shunt could lead to pulmonary hypertension. Drugs for pulmonary hypertension available in Indonesia are sildenafil and beraprost. This study aimed to examine the drug utilization of sildenafil and beraprost in pulmonary hypertension patients with congenital heart disease left to right shunt in ruang rawat inap SMF Kardiologi dan Kedokteran Vaskular RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya and identify the drug related problem that may occur. This study was an observational with retrospective method and conducted in ruang rawat inap SMF Kardiologi dan Kedokteran Vaskular RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya period of March 2017 to Mei 2017. The results of show that of 10 pulmonary hypertension patients with congenital heart disease who met the inclusion criteria were about 6 patients. The highest age range is at the age of 17-25 years. Type of congenital heart disease obtained in this study only ASD sekundum left-to-right shunt. Beraprost 1x20 mcg, 2x20 mcg and 3x20 mcg respectively were given to 1, 4, 1 patient. There was switching the dose from 3x40 mcg to 3x20 mcg, the frequency of administration from 2x20 mcg to 3x20 mcg respectively in 1 patient. There was switching from single therapy (beraprost 3x20 mcg) to sequential combination therapy sildenafil 3x50 mg in 1 patient. Sildenafil 3x25 mg and beraprost 3x20 mcg were given to 1 patient. There was switching frequency of administration of sildenafil from 2x25 mg to 3x25 mg given to 1 patient. There are no adverse effect and drug interaction occured found in this study.
