Abstract

A Study to develop pharmaceutical care model based on pharmacist responsibility behaviour {Knowledge, Attitude, Practice or KAP} in performing therapeutic communication with the patients to fulfil drug related need was done. The research was a quasi experimental research and was done toward pharmacist manager working at several Pharmacies in Surabaya and Sidoarjo. This was a pre-experimental study to test the pharmaceutical care model, consisted 34 pharmacist managers. Results showed that, pharmaceutical care model of pharmacist behaviour in pharmaceutical service for prescription drugs consisted of: knowledge and attitude toward pharmaceutical care; knowledge, attitude and practice in developing patient trust toward pharmacist; knowledge, attitude and practice in obtaining patient understanding on their prescription medicine; knowledge, attitude and practice in attaining patient expectation regarding their prescription medicine; knowledge, attitude and practice in obtaining patient awareness regarding their prescription medicine; knowledge, attitude and practice in obtaining patient adherence regarding their prescription drugs. Furthermore, the pharmaceutical care model improved pharmacist knowledge regarding pharmaceutical care in prescription services (p<0.005).
