Abstract

This study to proving the effect of vitamin D3 on decreasing colonization of Staphylococcus aureus in the skin of patients with atopic dermatitis. Method: This research is an analytical experimental study, by measuring Staphylococcus aureus colonization before and after administration of vitamin D3 and placebo, in pediatric atopic dermatitis Result: There was a significant difference in colonization of Staphylococcus aureus before being given vitamin D3 and after vitamin D3 administration (p value = 0,0001). There was no significant difference in Staphylococcus aureus colonization before being given a placebo and after placebo administration (p value = 0,386). There was a significant difference in the percentage of reduction in Staphylococcus aureus colonization between study subjects given D3 and study subjects given placebo (p value = 0.043). There were no side effects after administration of vitamin D3 and placebo.
