Abstract

Four: A Divergent Collection is a collection of Tobias Eaton's perspective in the trilogy. The story tells the reader about Tobias “Four” Eaton, as the main character, who is an adolescent boy in the process of forming his masculine identity. In divergent world, each teenagers in 16 years are required to take test for their fraction. The purpose of the test is to get their position in the fraction. The fraction match with their dominant characteristic. Based on her book, Connell suggested that the ideology of masculinity is achieved by social cultural values through what men should be. She also said that masculinity can be seen by men’s way of behaviour and tought. Therefore, the writer will use those aspect in analyzing the forms of masculinity that shown by Tobias Eaton. After analyzing the masculinity elements, the writer will analyze the form of masculinity in social cultural values.
