Abstract

Poverty is one of the many problems that become concern by countries in the world, both developed and developing countries. The greater the government's target in dealing with the problem of poverty, the less poverty that is expected to occured. The relationship between poverty in East Java Province and the factors that influence it will be examined so that the mathematical model is obtained. This mathematical form will show factors that significantly influence. The variable that affects poverty in East Java Province is the total population, literacy rates, index of human growth, and GRDP growth rate. In this research the used data is panel data which is a combination of cross section and time series data,which are obtained from the Central Statistics Agency in the form of publication data published in the District/City Poverty Data and Information book for 2012 until 2016. In this study, the observation unit was 38 administrative regions in East Java Province. One of the statistical analysis used to describe the problem of poverty in East Java province with behavioral observation research unit at different time periods is a binary probit regression analysis on panel data. Based on the best models obtained from the STATA 14 software, the factors that influence poverty in East Java Province are, literacy rates, index of human growth, and GRDP growth rate. Based on test results, classification accuracy is 92.63%
