Abstract

Province of East Kalimantan has malaria cases with API 0.461 in 2015. Paser District is one of two districts in East Kalimantan that have API> 1‰. There are several areas that are declared malaria endemic in Paser District. This study aims to identify factors related to malaria in Paser District to assess risk of a region. This research was a descriptive study with time series study design and uses spatial analysis approach. Unit of spatial analysis in this study was administrative area, namely the sub-district area, with observation time unit was the year. This study uses secondary data from Health Office of Paser District and data collection instruments in the form of data recap. Data was processed using the Health Mapper application and data analysis was performed by observe at distribution pattern of the map produced. Research results showed that the pattern of distribution of malaria cases per sub-district in Paser District in 2015-2017 settled in 4 sub districts. The area is Muara Komam, Long Kali, Long Ikis, and Batu Engau. Distribution of factors related to malaria shows consistent distribution among the productive age population and population of farmers and planters. Distribution of malaria cases based on factors related to malaria shows that distribution of malaria cases tends to be consistent with distribution of low educated populations, farmers and planters, and population living in malaria endemic villages. Malaria vulnerable areas are regions that have low educated populations high categories, farmers and planters population high categories, and population lives in endemic villages high categories. Communities in vulnerable areas need to increase awareness of malaria incidence. Health workers need to collect data and distribute insecticide treated bed nets specifically to forest encroachers. Health Office needs to continuous coordination with District Health Office bordering Paser District, to carry out malaria elimination together
