Abstract

The purpose of this research is to prove the use of glutaraldehyde disinfectants and benzyl methyl ammonium chionde can decrease the total number of bacteria on layer chicken cages. This research used 12 samples obtained from layer chicken cage swab results before spraying disinfectants and 12 samples obtained from the swab henhouse after spraying. The research method used VCT (Viable Count Technique) using the standard dropping pippetes. The observed parameters were colonies that grow on the nutrient agar being calculated as total bacteria. The result showed that combinaon of glutaraldehyde and benzyl methyl ammonium chloride more effective to decrease bacteria after spraying than before spraying desinfectants.
