Abstract
This study is focused to how animal was treated by human characters in the animated shorts from popular online game Overwatch directed by Jeff Kaplan and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Using Glotfelty’s theory and supported by several theories including Oppermann’s posthumanis ecocriticism and substantially followed by biospheric egalitarianism, this study aims to examine and reveal how animal research concerning hybrid lifeforms adapt and apprehend the nature which existed in the modern society. Besides that, this study also aims to reveal how human perception of nature is displayed as the entity that have responsibility in preserving nature. This study uses qualitative method with the help of film study narrative, the story. This study concludes that in the cyber area, the anthropocentric and biocentric perspective can be found inside the character’s trait. Furthermore, the existence of nonhuman character also affected the society to co-evolve together as the connection between human and nature that form a symbiosis.
