Abstract

--------------------------------------------------------- Background: Intestinal parasitic infections are infections caused by worms and protozoa. This infection is the most common infection in the world, based on prevalence data it is estimated that there are 3.5 billion affected (Mbae et al., (2013) from WHO). Intestinal parasite infection also has a significant impact but it is mostly classified as a neglected disease (Sanprasert et al, 2016). Purpose: To analyze the correlation of intestinal parasite infection with the morbidity of students SDN Mandangin VI involving the presence, kind of intestinal parasite infection and also kind of symptoms. Method: This study used a cross-sectional analytical method with 100 participants, returned samples were 67 samples, then the data that corresponded to questionnaire collection and attendance for 1 semester were 43 samples. in this research used the direct smear method for microscopic diagnosis. Result: There are no student infected with Soil Transmitted Helminth (0%), Blastocystis hominis non-pathogenic Protozoa (54.8%), pathogenic intestinal protozoa Giardia lamblia (30.2%), and Entamoeba coli (6,4%). The symptoms of parasite infection that often occur are diarrhea only (61,3%), diarrhea with abdominal pain (25,8%), and the most frequent symptoms of non parasite infection are diarrhea only (50%), diarrhea with cough (16,7%). From the results of the analysis of the significance of attendance and intestinal parasite infection data p = 0.647. Conclusion: in this study, there was no significant relationship between intestinal parasite infection and attendance. The dominant intestinal parasite infection is Blastocystis hominis and Giardia lamblia, and what often arises from the results of the interview is diarrhea.
