Abstract

This research aims to explore social entrepreneurship of social workers in Jayapura regarding social entrepreneurship concept, existence reality and its importance for those workers, as well as its contribution to human resources development for the social workers in Jayapura. The method utilized in this research are grounded research and qualitative approach. This research took place in Jayapura and conducted on social workers doing social entrepreneurship practices and activities as an alternative solution to help the society in resolving social problems. Meanwhile, the findings exhibited that social entrepreneurship of the social workers in Jayapura is not merely interpreted as an assimilation of social and economic values and activities.More than that, there are also spiritual value and activities adhered in its every purpose and value. Moreover, social entrepreneurship is not only about the aforementioned assimilation, but there is also exchange between values in terms of economic and social for spiritual purposes. In conclusion, spiritual activities and values are the most underlying concept and also considered as the main purpose of social entrepreneurship of social workers in Jayapura. The result indicated that there are significant differences between the result of this research and former research conducted by previous researchers. The differences laid on characteristics and activities, as well as existence reality of social entrepreneurship for the social workers. Moreover, there is social entrepreneurship contribution to human resources development for those social workers in their social entrepreneurship activities and practices, which affects skills, knowledge, and attitude possessed by those workers.
