Abstract

From discussions, obstacles, and added values that were included in the previous chapters of this report, the writer was able to conclude a few things regarding the topic that are discussed in the previous chapters. The was obligated by the D-III English Language to take part in an internship as the partial fulfilment of graduation. Besides the reason above, the writer chose surabayatribunnews.com to be the place to conduct his internship because surabayatribunnews.com is one of the biggest mass media company in Surabaya and will help the writer in applying the lesson taken from the course that was given in college, especially in the matter of translation skills and making articles. The method or technique to translate the article by the writer’s own self is crucial as articles related to tourism demand more attention and the use of interesting style of language so that the article itself can fully promote and explain all the features that exist in translated tourism articles. An article would not be useful if it is made using interesting language but failed to make the audience understand what the article is trying to show and tell. In order to successfully translate an article from Bahasa Indonesia to English for surabayatribunnews.com, the writer must follow a method or technique related to how a good article is supposed to be made and translated so that the result of the translation itself can be in the form of fully readable, interesting, and easy to read article. During the internship at surabayatribunnews.com, there are obstacles that came when the writer was doing the internship at the mass media company. The obstacle was that the writer was obligated to make translation using interesting style of language. The use of interesting style of language was one of the rules set by the company in order to keep the standard of the article exemplary. The use of interesting style of language will also avoid the readers into getting bored in reading the article. The solution that the writer was able to find was taking suggestion from fellow translators at surabayatribunnews.com or even his supervisor. The writer was able to apply his knowledge and skills regarding translation in the internship because the internship that he participated really required the writer to show his knowledge that he got from the Practice in Translation course that he got during his college days
