Abstract

Adolescents are periods of human growth and development that occur after childhood and before adulthood, which involve biological, cognitive, social and emotional changes. The existence of these changes can affect their sexual behavior. Premarital sexual behavior is an activity that leads to heterosexual intimacy by a pair of human children before the existence of an official bond (marriage). Teenagers who have premarital sexual behavior can be encouraged to do early marriage. The purpose of this study is to explain the relationship between premarital sexual behavior with early marriage in adolescents in the Kenjeran District of Surabaya. Method: This study used a correlational research design and used a cross sectional approach. The population in this study is the data of teenagers who were married in October to December 2017 at KUA, Kenjeran Subdistrict, Surabaya City, as many as 252 people. The sample is 152 teenagers. Respondent samples were selected by purposive sampling technique. The independent variable (independent variable) in this study was premarital sexual behavior. The dependent variable (dependent variable) in this study is early marriage. The research data used an instrument in the form of a questionnaire and analyzed using Chi Square Test with a significance level of α≤0.05. Results: The results of the chi square test analysis showed a significant relationship between premarital sexual behavior and early marriage. This is evidenced by the p value <α, p = 0,000. Discussion: From this research can be concluded that the heavier the level of premarital sexual behavior, the greater the chances of early marriage.
