Abstract

The optimal egg production of quail is very depended on feed nutrition. Change of feed formula can affect the egg production and organoleptic. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding concentration of turmeric flour and fish oil to quails feed formula. This research was an experimental research which used factorial methods. This experiment used 96 quails (Cortunix cortunix japonica), which were randomized into 6 treatments with 4 replications. The quails were divided into 6 groups and treated with different concentrations of turmeric flour and fish oil in each feed formula.The effect of different feed formula was investigated in the change of egg production and organoleptic changes. The data of egg production was taken on daily basis from 3th week until 4th week during the treatment period. The data taken is called Quail Day Production (QDP%). The data of egg organoleptic was taken in the 3th week of the treatment period and the preference test was carried out by 40 panelists on the aroma, taste and preference level of quail eggs after being boiled. The adding of 0.3% in turmeric flour affect the egg production significantly but its combination with fish oil did not affect the egg production. The combination concentration of turmeric flour and fish oil did not change the aroma of eggs, but change the taste of the eggs.
