Abstract

This study analyzes the Intellectual Property Rights, especially Geographical Indications. Geographical Indication is a sign that indicates the origin of an area that produces a certain good. Geographical Indication Product is a characteristic possessed by an area of natural factors that have different soil structure, weather, rainfall levels and soil acidity. Regional Government in terms of having the authority to protect the potential of Geographical Indications. One of the authorities is to make a Regional Regulation on the Protection of Geographical Indications. In this case, the Regional Government as the holder of the Geographical Indication right also has a limitation in exercising its exclusive rights, namely by giving permission to the public to use the Geographical Indications for the purpose of making a profit. In this thesis the author uses the method of legal research given the characteristics and characteristics of Legal Studies are normative. The study was conducted by collecting legal material and examining legal issues, drawing conclusions in the form of arguments. The approach used in analyzing the problems in the preparation of this research proposal is to include a research approach to the law (statute approach) and conceptual approach (conceptual approach) that is an approach through the views or theories of law that develops in the science of law
