Abstract

The aim of this study was to know the seminal plasma testosterone levels and haematology value of Holstein Friesian bull who experienced infertility at the Radju Bendul Merisi Surabaya farm. The research method in this study used descriptive analysis and would be compared with the seminal plasma testosterone levels and haematology value of fertile Holstein Friesian bull. The numbers of samples were 3 Holstein Friesian bulls. The variables that was observed were seminal plasma testosteron level, and haematology value. Hormonal seminal plasma testosterone analysis was performed using sandwich ELISA method. The results test of bull seminal plasma testosterone levels an average 0,048 ng/ml for Holstein Friesian infertil and fertile Holstein Friesian bull had an average of 0,051 ng/ml. The result test of bull haematology value that is hemoglobin level is obtained 11,5 g/dL for Holstein Friesian infertil and fertile Holstein Friesian bull had 12,4 g/dL. Leucocyts level is obtained 6,1 x 109/L for Holstein Friesian infertil and fertile Holstein Friesian bull had 8,3 x 109/L. Erythrocytes level is obtained 0,75 x 1012/L for Holstein Friesian infertil and fertile Holstein Friesian bull had 7,74 x 1012/L . Hematocrit level is obtained 3,2% for Holstein Friesian infertil and fertile Holstein Friesian bull had 39,6%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the haematology value and seminal plasma testosterone of infertile Holstein Friesian bull can not be used to detect infertility that is owned by a male. Further research is also needed to determine the cause of infertility in Holstein Friesian bull at the Radju Bendul Merisi Surabaya farm.
